He had a pretty rough time for a while, especially since his dad didn’t come to pick him up or anything. He stayed in a juvenile trauma center for a while, getting counseling and adjusting to a normal life schedule while receiving care for his injuries. After that he was put into foster care and stayed with a family for a few years, an older couple with an empty house. He was about 12 when he went to stay with them.

Well, barring the multiple centuries’ worth of pop culture that we know nothing about, he might be an astronaut? Or maybe some kind of spacey adventure hero Duck Dodgers in the 24^th and a Half Century zeerust nonsense just to be silly. Star fleet uniform? |D;;

Manly shampoo. He just uses bar soap and whatever looks serviceable and reasonably-priced from the store.

Café au lait! With milk but no sugar. It offsets sweet breakfasts nicely.

His aunt would /not/ allow pets, and it wasn’t like he could just go out and find  a frog or something, no back yard to explore. The foster family he stayed with had a bird, but Hector wasn’t too fond of it. It ws kind of loud. 

Also he is really fond of deer. You can see them sometimes in the nature reserves, and he just goes into total kawaii-mode whenever he sees one.

Anything that requires constant attention and minute details. Sauces and stir-fries and fluffy desserts!
